I spent the bulk of the weekend working through a couple of plot revisions. The first, for a screenplay that had written a few years ago, in which I added a missing element that renewed my excitement for the story. It’s one of those things where the answer was smack dab in my face the whole time, but like “oon foo foo #1” I ignored all the signs.
Now I’m on the right track.
I also worked on a plot revision for my upcoming novella, “Doomsday League”. Don’t worry. This baby is still on schedule, but there was a tweak that I needed to add in the plot in order to make the sub-plot work better. After that, I had to handle up on a few chapter rewrites to accommodate that change.
The first draft is always “UGH” to me, but when it comes to the 2nd or 3rd drafts–you know when you’re really digging deep into the characters and rehashing the plot–that’s what gets me dancing in my chair. I’m getting closer to the kind of writing that I’ve wanted to do ever since I read the book, “Elfstones of Shannara” by author Terry Brooks. Don’t forget to read my review on the upcoming Shannara TV show as well.
I’m very excited about Doomsday League. Borderline geeked out.
