I receive so many inquiries from newbies in entertainment about how to get started on their dreams and on the web, that I designed a Getting Started on the Web series to meet the demands of my site visitors, business associates and clients.  More information coming soon, until then sign up to my newsletter for free tips and updates about this must have collection!

Fear of learning something to make me succeed.

Fear of succeeding above and beyond what I am already.

Fear of rejection from critique partners, editors and agents; knowing someone doesn’t ‘get’ what I have created with written words.

Fear of taking a chance with a person I don’t know personally and who doesn’t care about me as a living human being with feelings that will be either crushed or rejuvenated under their response.

What I suffer is just plain fear to move forward while I attempt to follow my passion. And why do I do this to myself? Because what my passion inspires me to do is out in the open for all to see, naked and bare to the marrow. Yet, my passion refuses to allow me to hide it away.

My middle son has a passion: self-taught musician. My youngest has a passion: to create games for others to enjoy. Even my oldest son has one but not in what I would categorize as a creating passion. His passion is for the love of his life. I helped them with their passions. I allowed them to grow with them and taught them how to chase after what they love.

If I allow fear to overcome my passion then what do I do with the rest of my life? I won’t have anything to look forward to accomplishing. I’d be lost. My life would be empty of what I desire to do. Sure, I want so many wonderful things for my family and my friends, but me? Though it sounds selfish, we all have to make ourselves happy before we can even try to bring happiness to anyone else. And if I am allowing fear to stand in the way of my passion, my happiness, my heart, then how am I going to be satisfied with anyone or anything else in my life? I’d end up making them miserable.

So, I rise up, determined to succeed with my writing. I go out of my way to learn and grow all I can with my craft. I want to succeed and I fully intend to do so. Rejection? If I receive some feedback, yes, I look carefully at it and decide how to handle it, but remember, writing is a subjective career. What one person hates, another may love.

Taking a chance is the one that gives me the most problems. My first steps at allowing someone to see what I have created. It’s a chance but one I’m willing to take. Sure, I am physically ill each and every time I press the send button or place the manuscript in a post office drop box, but will I stop and never send anything else out? No, I won’t. I’m stubborn and determined. My passion in my air, my blood, My passion IS my what I was put on this earth to share.
