Now on to my original 11.9.15 post about my trip to Maui below!

I have to represent for “jet lag”.  If it weren’t for it, I wouldn’t have slept enough on my trip to Maui.

Seriously.  I hiked, snorkeled, and kayaked, but not gonna lie, when I had some downtime, a sistah CRASHED on the sofa, at the airport, on the plane.  My aunt had to nudge me a couple of times because I went so deep into sleep that I snored.  LOL.

I hadn’t slept that good in AGES!

The day before we went to the airport was filled with running around for last minute items, in fact I was still getting travel bottles and SD cards at two in the morning, just a mere five hours before flight time.  Keep in mind, my trip to Maui commenced not 3 days after I wrapped production of my first short film, “A Day in the Life of Sarah Jane”.  Talk about running around like a chicken with it’s neck chopped off!

MORBID imagery, I know, but that’s how I felt.  The movie production had several hiccups from development to principal photography, but in the end, we grabbed the final scene just before midnight on the second day.  Right after that I had to go to to the slave, I mean…DAY gig, and make sure my desk was settled so that my back up wouldn’t be screaming to the hills while I was gone.  And then as the clock ticked its way to flight time, I imagined on all the things I’d do when I crossed the Pacific.

The flight to L.A. was nothing new. I’ve done it before several times, even took a road trip (by myself) from Dallas to L.A. a couple of times. But I hadn’t seen Tinsel Town since 2002, so I was so thrilled to be out of North Texas.  Don’t get me wrong, N.Tx is my home now, but I miss the weather and scenery of SoCal all the time.  Plus I’m a water baby.  I grew up along the Pacific coast line the first half of my life so…you know how that go.

My aunt and I ate a restaurant inside L.A.X and it was good. The bartender and cracked jokes and then when my aunt was done we walked around LA.X until I connecting flight was ready.  From there we took the long flight over to Honolulu Airport and then Maui!

While we were in Honolulu, I listened hard to see if they were shooting any scenes of my favorite TV show, “Hawaii Five-O”.  So such luck.

We got to our hotel, and needless today, it wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be based on the information we got from the internet so my aunt and I drove around that first day until we found a cute, tropical condo set up.  We went back to the first hotel, checked out and drove to the other and checked in.  We drove around for a few hours while they got our room ready and enjoyed the sights.  I loved driving in Maui.  Check out the pics below.

I’ll continue this adventure in another blog post and talk about my snorkeling and kayaking experience.  I have plenty of pics and video to share so keep posted.

Don’t forget to check out my travel art now available

Title: Planting the Seeds of Love: A Novella

Author: N. N. Light

Genre: Contemporary Romance, New Adult, New Adult Romance

Tagline: Torn between two men, Sally must follow her heart and decide if love will lead her to the city or the countryside.

Torn between two men, Sally must follow her heart and decide if love will lead her to the city or the countryside.

Twenty-Two year old Sally Rayton returns to the family farm she deserted four years ago to bury her grandfather. Her plan: to settle her grandfather’s estate and return to her life in the city with her boyfriend, Trevor Mattson.

Her childhood friend, Jack Smith, has other ideas.

Jack convinces Sally to transform the farm into a brewery and fulfill her grandfather’s dream while keeping the Rayton Farm in the family. Sally works side-by-side with Jack while Trevor is hundreds of miles away in the city. The more time she spends with Jack, the stronger her feelings are for him.

When Trevor shows up to propose to Sally right before Christmas and finds her in Jack’s embrace, she must make the biggest choice of her life: true love.

Sally woke up the next morning to the sound of a chainsaw, multiple chainsaws. What the hell is going on? It’s five-thirty in the morning! She threw back the bedcovers and grabbed her robe off the back of the bedroom door. Pulling it tight across her body, the floral soft cotton robe did nothing to conceal the fact she was naked underneath. She ran down the stairs and stomped out the door barefoot.

“So help me, I’m going to kill whomever is making that racket,” she roared to no one in particular.

She craned her neck to hear where the sound was coming from. Turning left, towards the citrus grove, she saw Jack and two other men standing under the trees. All of the frustration from the past week poured out of her and she ran as hard as she could. When she came closer, she realized what they were about to do.

“Stop! Don’t cut these trees down!” She panted. She put her hands on her hips to catch her breath.

Jack’s eyes roamed the length of her body and Sally could feel a slight warmth heat her cheeks. She looked down at her disheveled robe and pulled her robe tighter. Dammit, what’s he staring at? She lifted her gaze and her stomach did a flip. Jack’s shirt wasn’t buttoned and she caught a glimpse of his tanned ripped stomach muscles. Oh my!

“Jack, what are you doing? Do you know it’s five-thirty in the morning?”

He shook his head, as if that was an answer. She tore her eyes away from his abs to his face. She inhaled sharply. His hooded eyes looked ready to devour her. I must be seeing things. Maybe he’s just hungry.

The two other men set down their chainsaws. “Listen Jack, we’ll be over at your farm eating some breakfast. Come get us when you’re ready.”

Jack snapped his head around to the men. “Sure. I’ll see you guys in few minutes.” He ran his fingers through his hair. “I have to clear things up with Miss Rayton.” Jack watched the men walk away and whipped his head back to Sally.

Sally rolled her eyes and said aloud, “Yeah, you just have to talk to the womanfolk.” She spoke in a sweet Southern drawl. “Remember to speak nice and slow so she understands ya’ll.”

She was born in Minnesota, lived in Southern California only to move to chilly Ontario, Canada to marry her beloved husband MR N. She is blissfully happy and loves all things chocolate, books, music, movies, art, sports and baking. Her mantra is to spread the Light.

Official Key Art for Shannara Chronicles

Just look at it.  I love to see the works behind the scenes of a television or film project, and the key art for Shannara looks incredible.

Can’t wait for Jan 2016

The story revolves around the Shannara family, whose descendants are empowered with ancient magic and whose adventures continuously reshape the future of the world. The 10-episode straight-to-series drama is written by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, based on Terry Brooks’ fantasy book series. Production wrapped in June in New Zealand. The show will have a panel Saturday at New York Comic-Con. Gough and Millar are EPs and showrunners, with Brooks, Jon Favreau, Jonathan Liebesman — who directed the first two episodes — and Dan Farah also serving as executive producers.

The Shannara Chronicles premieres in January.

Synopsis by Deadline

From Morganville to the Great Library

Rachel Caine is one of my favorite authors.  Not just because she’s a gem of a paranormal/ fantasy writer, but also because she’s a fellow Texas author.

I first became a fan of hers through her Morganville Vampires novel series.

Rachel Caine, Ink and Bone
“Ink and Bone” author, Rachel Caine

I remember lurking around her websites a few years ago and watching as Morganville evolved into a successful  Kickstarter campaign and then web series on Felicia Day’s Geek & Sundry, to DVD, and now streaming via Vimeo. (I just purchased).

Her journey

Watching Rachel’s journey was the bit of “push” that I needed in order to revamp ideas that I had for my own web series. So, I contributed to her Morganville campaign, not only to support her for the above reasons, but Morganville Vampires is a great novel series.  I was also curious about where she would take it in the live-action realm.  Not only did she raise the money, but…well…see for yourself>>Morganville Kickstarter<<.

Wow…$80k.  Not bad Rachel, not bad.  😉

Now Rachel takes us on another series caper called the Great Library. The first book in the series was Ink and Bone (which I’m just now getting on my TBR list for November). And now she has the second installment pending called, Paper and Fire.  Rachel has also contributed to an anthology titled, “Dark Secrets”

Whew! Does this chick ever take a break?

Learn more about Rachel here, or here, or heck, tweet her when you can.  Then download any of her amazing stories on Amazon, B&N and any online retailer.

rachelcaine-inkboneAbout the Book:

In an exhilarating new series, New York Times bestselling author Rachel Caine rewrites history, creating a dangerous world where the Great Library of Alexandria has survived the test of time.…

Ruthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the Library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly—but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden.

Jess Brightwell believes in the value of the Library, but the majority of his knowledge comes from illegal books obtained by his family, who are involved in the thriving black market. Jess has been sent to be his family’s spy, but his loyalties are tested in the final months of his training to enter the Library’s service.

When he inadvertently commits heresy by creating a device that could change the world, Jess discovers that those who control the Great Library believe that knowledge is more valuable than any human life—and soon both heretics and books will burn.

Maui baby

In about 4 weeks…

I’ll be on my way to Maui for the first time.

I wonder if I’ll get to see the filming of a  “Hawaii Five-0” action scene, as I plan to visit more than one island while I’m there.  Overall, I’m thankful for the opportunity to continue doing things that I’ve never done before.

At 42…

with my schedule and obligations…that isn’t always something that’s easy to do.

2015 Repositioning

Most of 2015 has been a surge of LLE adventures.

  • First the trip to Canada
  • First short film production.
  • First full-length novel

All that I can say is, God is able.

I’m looking forward to doing more firsts, and completing my bucket list.

Anywho, more on that here>>The Courage to Just Do It<< .
